The quality and direction of children's activities will depend largely upon environment and healthful recreation.
White, "Neighborhood Parks Also Serve as Playgrounds," 1927
The Olmsted firm was strongly against adding any drives to this small park, but advised the Park Board to install a shelter in the center of the park with restrooms, primarily to accommodate children. The report suggested the park be designed primarily for the enjoyment of children, with seesaws, sandboxes, swings and other toys as the most common features of the area. Similar to Audubon Park recommendations, Olmsted suggested the neighbors attempt to make surrounding lots as beautiful as possible to preserve the beauty afforded by the neighborhood park.
