Spokane is Grecian in its love for outdoor recreation, as any park of the many provided will prove. Each park presents a different phase of open air enjoyment.
Spokesman-Review, "Spokane Parks," 1913
Olmsted commented on the unique topography of this park, but advised against installing drives, as the small area did not lend itself to vehicle transportation. Instead, the report suggested installing settees and walkways around the perimeter for visitors on foot to enjoy naturally scenic views. Olmsted also suggested installing a small lake in the park that may be used for wading, boat sailing and winter skating. Olmsted commented that the play area in this park should be reserved for smaller boys who would play more safely than older boys who could afford to drive to other parks.
