Latah Park (now Qualchan Golf Course and Qualchan Hills Park)
2286 acres
The City of Spokane has remarkable opportunities for preserving big and strikingly picturesque landscape features for its parks.
Olmsted Brothers Landscape Architects, Report to Board of Commissioners, 1908
Olmsted advised the Park Board to construct self drives along the bluff, as well as through the valley of this large park. The report also indicated that this park would be particularly pleasant during the summer, as the open valley welcomes southwest breezes that create a cooler atmosphere during warmer seasons. The area designated for this park is today High Drive parkway and Qualchan Park and Golf Course.
