Craftsman Architecture
Louis & Alma Parent House
Built in the popular bungalow form, the renovated interior and exterior of the Parent House exhibit a number of discernible Craftsman characteristics. An overall low-slung horizontal emphasis, low-pitched roof and widely overhanging eaves contribute to the feeling of modesty associated with the bungalow form, while the partial-width covered front porch and basalt foundation demonstrate a marked Craftsman influence. The general simplicity of the exterior of this home makes it a characteristic example of the Arts & Crafts movement.
