Craftsman Architecture
Harry & Dorothy Alvis House
The Alvis House is remarkable for its ability to communicate a horizontal emphasis despite rising two-and-one-half stories. A characteristic low-slung roof and widely overhanging eaves work to create this effect, as well as horizontal casings at the tops and bottoms of windows and the front door. The subtle decorations in the gable peaks are also indicative of Craftsman influence.
